Why will the tribulation happen? First, separation of the wheat and the chaff.
When the Tribulation happens, Christianity will not be "cool" or safe. It will be dangerous to call yourself a Christian. So the fakers are gonna prove to be just that very quickly.
Second, it will allow Jesus to prepare his kingdom by getting as many people on board as possible.
To be honest, though, we aren't owed an explanation. But those are reasons that line up biblically.
